1. The Service

IPWhois.net provides free, publicly accessible network information tools. These include IP address lookup and geolocation, WHOIS data for domains and ASNs, DNS lookup and propagation checking, MAC address vendor lookup, SSL inspection, port checking, VPN/DNS leak testing and related utilities. All tools query publicly available data sources and return results in real time. No registration or payment is required to use them.

2. Acceptable Use

You may use IPWhois.net for lawful purposes. Common and accepted uses include:

• Network troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Security research and incident response
• Verifying ownership of IP blocks or domains
• Checking DNS propagation after a configuration change
• Testing whether a VPN or proxy correctly masks your IP address
• Personal curiosity about networking concepts

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the tools complies with the laws of your jurisdiction and does not infringe the rights of others.

3. Prohibited Conduct

The following uses are not permitted:

• Harvesting or scraping data from the site in bulk without prior written permission
• Using automated scripts or bots to perform more requests than a single person would reasonably make manually
• Using lookup results to harass, stalk or locate specific individuals
• Attempting to circumvent rate limiting, access controls or any other technical measures on the site
• Using the site to support illegal activity, including network intrusion, fraud or the distribution of malware
• Misrepresenting the source or accuracy of data obtained from this site
• Interfering with the availability of the site for other users

We reserve the right to block access from any IP address or network that we determine to be acting in violation of these terms, without notice.

4. API and Automated Access

IPWhois.net offers a free public API at api.ipwhois.net for programmatic IP geolocation lookups. The API is rate-limited and subject to fair use. Automated access to the website (as opposed to the API) is not permitted without prior written agreement and may result in your access being blocked.

Scraping, crawling or bulk-harvesting data from the website interface (as distinct from the API) is prohibited. If you need high-volume access, use the API or contact us to discuss commercial arrangements.

5. Accuracy of Data

IPWhois.net maintains its own IP geolocation, VPN detection, ISP speed and MAC vendor databases. These databases are compiled from multiple public and licensed sources including regional internet registries, network operators, independent measurement platforms and official hardware registration authorities. The data is processed, cross-referenced and enriched through our own automated pipelines.

IP geolocation is inherently an estimate. Country-level accuracy is high for well-registered address blocks, but city-level data can be incorrect, particularly for mobile networks, satellite connections and VPN endpoints. ISP speed figures represent network-wide averages and do not reflect individual connection performance.

This data is provided for informational purposes. Do not rely on it for decisions that require legally verified information. If you need authoritative IP registration data, consult the relevant regional internet registry directly.

If you are an ISP or network operator and believe your data is inaccurate, please contact us to request a correction.

6. Intellectual Property

The design, code, text and layout of IPWhois.net are owned by or licensed to the site operator. You may not reproduce or redistribute site content without permission. The underlying data returned by the tools (IP registration records, DNS records etc.) comes from public registries and is not owned by us.

The name and logo of IPWhois.net may not be used in any context that implies endorsement or affiliation without written consent.

7. Third-Party Links and Services

Some pages link to external websites or reference third-party services. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. A link does not imply endorsement. Our tools depend on upstream data providers; if a provider experiences an outage or changes its data format, our results may be affected.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

IPWhois.net is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranty, express or implied, that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for any particular purpose. Data accuracy is not guaranteed. To the extent permitted by applicable law, all warranties including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement are excluded.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, IPWhois.net and its operator shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. This includes but is not limited to loss of data, revenue, business or reputation, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions do not permit certain exclusions or limitations of liability; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the minimum permitted by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless IPWhois.net and its operator from any claims, losses, costs or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these terms, your misuse of the site, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Croatia and, where applicable, by relevant European Union regulations. Any dispute arising from your use of this service will be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in Croatia, except where local consumer protection law in your country of residence requires otherwise.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If we make substantial changes, we may display a notice on the home page.

13. Data Sources and Attribution

IPWhois.net compiles its databases from multiple public and licensed data sources. We process, enrich and maintain this data independently. The following attributions are provided in accordance with the respective license terms of certain data providers:

• This product includes GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from https://www.maxmind.com.
• Network performance data incorporates measurements from Measurement Lab (M-Lab), made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license.

IP address registration data is sourced from publicly available databases maintained by regional internet registries. DNS records are queried from public nameservers. MAC address vendor records are derived from publicly available hardware registration databases. VPN and proxy detection draws from a combination of proprietary analysis and publicly maintained threat intelligence feeds.

All data processing, enrichment, cross-referencing and database compilation is performed by IPWhois.net. The resulting databases are proprietary to IPWhois.net and may not be copied, redistributed or used to build competing products without written permission.
